Created Estate-Plan Charitable Trust "to Pass On Fisher Legacy to Students of the Future"

Peter E. Trabold

Peter E. Trabold, of the Class of 1956, is a thoughtful, hard-working, and generous man. During his successful 40-year career in accounting, Peter held many leadership positions in prominent companies throughout Upstate New York before retiring and moving to Florida with his wife Anne in the late 1990s. In 2011 Peter was recognized by St. John Fisher University and his fellow accounting alumni with the University’s Accounting Alumni Society Lifetime Achievement Award.

Through the years Peter has expressed his appreciation for his Fisher education and training through annual donations to the Fisher Fund. In 2005 he became one of the pioneer members of the 1948 Society when he and Anne created the Peter E. Trabold Lifetime Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust, naming his alma mater as a beneficiary.

This charitable remainder annuity trust pays an annuity amount to Peter during his lifetime at a percentage yield to him that is greater than what the assets themselves would generate. At the termination of the trust, the assets on hand will pass outright to his named charitable beneficiaries—such as the University. As one might imagine, there are significant income- and estate-tax advantages to making such a planned gift in addition to the satisfaction of creating a charitable legacy.

“Setting up a charitable annuity trust was, for me, the best way to say ‘thank you’ to St. John Fisher University for all that the school had done for me,” says Peter. “The University provided the means, fundamentals, and disciplines necessary for me to have and use in my lifetime. Providing for St. John Fisher University is a means to help pass on the Fisher legacy to the students of the future.”
